THE GIST

what we're looking for

A Supper Art Director will create unique branding and advertising collateral that effectively communicates messaging to the target audience. The art director will meet with clients and internal departments to discuss and establish project objectives, research current trends and the target demographic, and design and troubleshoot the visual aspects of campaigns, websites or branding projects from the initial planning stages until the work is client approved and complete. The Art Director will provide leadership to a team of graphic designers and interns under the direction of the Creative Director with support from Supper management.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizing multi-channel campaigns, websites, and branding projects with a creative partner and seeing the concept through execution by collaborating with copywriters and designers.
  • Works closely with Creative Director to provide visual design inspiration and conceptual direction for designers and writers. Always working to develop effective solutions to solve client problems.
  • Works under the strategic direction of Creative Director to mentor, guide, and encourage designers and interns by contributing to their weekly 1-on-1s, quarterly conversations and annual performance reviews.
  • Manage and work with graphic designers and writers to turn assignments into brilliant creative.
  • Ensures work is consistent with Supper’s design quality and client brand guidelines.
  • Deep understanding of project and creative strategy to ensure our creative work always delivers on the strategy.
  • Provide art direction on photoshoots, video shoots  including pre-production meetings, storyboard development (or storyboard collaboration) with vendor partners.
  • Contributes direction and design to digital and print projects using the Adobe Creative Suite of apps.
  • Contributes planning, direction and UI/UX design to website projects using Webflow and other platforms to create wireframes, sitemaps and site designs.
  • Provides estimated time requirements for project completion related to design and art direction functions to inform overall project estimates.
  • Facilitates communication with account executives to ensure creative executions deliver against the creative brief and effectively reaches the target audience while staying on schedule and budget.
  • Presents client work by clearly explaining how the creative assignment, strategy, and solutions will accomplish the client’s objective and solves the creative/design problem.
  • Directing, reviewing and approving original social content creation.
  • Stay current with trends and new media formats, absorbing ideas from the internet, TV, social media, etc.
  • Copy & Script Writing
  • Production of video & photo shoots

What You'll Need to Have

  • A well-rounded portfolio of conceptual work, with strong graphic design, website or UX/UI design, photography direction, logo and/or typography skills.
  • Self-starter personality with solutions-focused attitude in accepting new challenges.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, working well in a team setting.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail and innovation.
  • Conscientious work ethic and alignment  to Supper’s values.

Our Interview Process

Step 1 - 15-30 minute intro call to review position details, company details and professional experience.

Step 2 - 1 hour interview with department director to talk specifically about previous positions, culture and the daily duties of the position.

Step 3 - 1 hour interview with company owners to review company values, goals for the position and culture fit.

qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Must possess 3 plus years of experience in the creative, advertising, or marketing industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or related field.
  • Displays an understanding of managing client expectations and relationships, while working across teams to ensure that deliverables are on time, on budget, and error free.
  • Demonstrate above-average skills needed for art direction including: Design ability, color theory, typography, and composition.
  • Proficiency in applicable Mac software programs, including Adobe Creative Suite.
