what we're looking for

Art Director

Supper is seeking an Art Director who combines strong visual taste with advanced AI fluency. This role requires someone who can concept and execute modern brand systems and campaigns while using AI tools as part of their daily creative workflow. The right candidate understands that AI is a tool, not a shortcut, and knows how to generate, curate, refine, and elevate work to a professional standard.

This is not a production-only role. It requires creative judgment, aesthetic restraint, and the ability to define what “good” looks like.

Salary Ranges

We are hiring multiple positions including senior art director. Salary range based on experience is $60,000 to $82,500.

Role Overview

The Art Director will lead visual development across branding, campaigns, digital experiences, and content systems. They will collaborate closely with copywriters, designers, strategists, and the Creative Director to shape ideas and bring them to life across channels.

This role requires:

  • Strong conceptual thinking
  • Clear visual taste and discernment
  • Comfort directing both humans and AI tools
  • Ownership from concept through execution

Core Responsibilities

Creative Leadership

  • Concept and design multi-channel campaigns, brand systems, and digital experiences in partnership with copy and strategy.
  • Translate strategic objectives into visually compelling work that aligns with client goals.
  • Define visual direction early and maintain quality control through execution.
  • Own creative timelines, deliverables, and final outcomes.

AI-Enabled Creative Production

  • Use AI tools to generate visual concepts, image variations, mockups, environments, and exploratory design directions.
  • Develop structured prompting systems to achieve consistent and intentional results.
  • Edit, refine, and elevate AI-generated outputs to meet professional design standards.
  • Identify when AI is appropriate and when traditional methods are required.
  • Build repeatable workflows that integrate AI into Supper’s creative process.

Visual Judgment and Taste

  • Demonstrate strong typography, color, layout, and composition skills.
  • Apply restraint and critical thinking to avoid generic or derivative output.
  • Ensure all work reflects a high bar for craft and brand consistency.
  • Curate references and inspiration with discernment.

Campaign & Content Direction

  • Provide art direction for photo shoots, video shoots, and social content.
  • Develop visual mood boards, storyboards, and shot lists.
  • Review and approve original social and digital creative.
  • Direct and refine design execution by designers and interns.

Client & Internal Communication

  • Present work clearly and rationally, explaining creative strategy and decisions.
  • Collaborate with account and strategy teams to ensure work delivers against the brief.
  • Manage expectations while protecting creative integrity.

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in advertising, branding, or digital design.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI image generation platforms and emerging creative tools.
  • Strong portfolio showing conceptual thinking and high-level craft across branding, campaigns, or digital work.
  • Clear evidence of aesthetic judgment and restraint.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and modern design workflows.
  • Experience presenting work to clients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Alignment with Supper’s values and collaborative culture.

What We Are Not Looking For

  • Someone who relies on AI without creative discernment.
  • Someone who produces high volume without critical evaluation.
  • Someone focused only on production rather than concept.

Qualifications

  • Must possess 3 plus years of experience in the creative, advertising, or marketing industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or related field.
  • Displays an understanding of managing client expectations and relationships, while working across teams to ensure that deliverables are on time, on budget, and error free.
  • Demonstrate above-average skills needed for art direction including: Design ability, color theory, typography, and composition.
  • Proficiency in applicable Mac software programs, including Adobe Creative Suite.
